NLRB Posting Requirement Delayed Until April 30th!
The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) has postponed the effective date of its final rule on Notification of Employee Rights under the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA) until April 30, 2012 at the request of a federal court in Washington DC. The final rule requires employers in the United States (except for the agricultural, railroad and airline employers who are covered under the Railway Labor Act), to post and maintain a NLRB notice in conspicuous places. This notice is to include language, that among other things, employees have the right to “Organize a union to negotiate with your employer concerning your wages, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment.” For more information, click here.
EEOC Launches Internal Task Force
The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) has launched an internal task force to expand and improve outreach and technical assistance to small businesses. The task force will focus on developing tools and recommendations for firms too small to employ either lawyers or human resource personnel. SGIA will continue to monitor this activity as recommendations are expected in 2012.
