ASPT Member Biography

Robert BellemareRobert Bellemare, Jr.
Inducted into the Academy in 2002

Born in Montreal (Quebec), Canada, Robert was initiated into screen printing at a very young age by his father, Robert Bellemare Sr., a Canadian screen printing pioneer. Working in the family business, he "paid his dues" as a printer assistant, screen washer, printer, and set-up assistant in the photo department. In 1987, he became a sales representative for the company.

With the help of his father and brothers, Robert opened his own shop – Communications Imprimées Bellemare (CIB) – in 1989. From the start, the company embarked on a "different kind" of high-tech screen printing.

The principal technician of CIB, Bellemare controls production – from file treatment and color separation to stencils and printing – based, almost exclusively, on UV technology.

To achieve his high-tech quality goals, Bellemare has attended advanced training courses conducted in France by Michel Caza (Graficaza), with whom he shares an interest in the research and development of the screen printing process.

Specializing in fine and very fine halftone (150-300 lines/inch and stochastic halftone) printing, CIB has become a reference for high-quality printing in Canada and around the world. His company has received 40 Golden Image awards from SGIA International, and about 10 awards for screen printing quality from FESPA's competition.

Robert Bellemare holds a Baccalaureate degree in Business Administration/Marketing.
