ASPT Member Biography

E.L. "Dutch" Drehle, SGIA
Inducted into the Academy in 2005

He's a member of ISO TC 130 working group developing standards on four-color process control, inks, materials, and industry terminology. He's also a key industry adviser through the SGIA ASSIST line. And now, he's joined the distinguished ranks of ASPT.

Dutch Drehle is nearing his 50th year in screen printing, a distinguished career that began with a 1958 apprenticeship. In 1961, the recent graduate of Colorado State University founded Plass Container Co. (a division of Colorado Serum Co.) - which later absorbed the shop where Drehle had been an apprentice, and grew to a million-dollar-a-year container decorating company under his leadership.

Next, Drehle established an in-plant screen printing operation for Teledyne Water Pik in Loveland Colorado; the operation grew to support a dozen production lines, adding membrane switch, pad printing, hot stamping, and offset printing in subsequent years.

Drehle is also well known for his role in SGIA: He's served as SGIA Chairman of the Board (1986) and served on the Board of Directors for over 20 years.
He joined the SGIA staff in 1990 and served as Director of Technical Services, Vice President of Technical Services and after moving back to Colorado as Senior Technical Services Associate. He also served on the SPTF Board of Directors from its beginning until 1990 and was directly involved in establishing the Screen Printing Technical Foundation.
