Y. Kinter
Inducted into the Academy in 1998
Marci is the Vice President for Government Affairs for the Screenprinting
and Graphic Imaging Association International. Marci represents
the industry before federal and state regulatory agencies and the
U.S. Congress on environmental, safety and other government issues
directly impacting the screen printing and graphic imaging industries.
She is responsible for overseeing the activities of the Government
Affairs Department. Prior to her joining SGIA International in 1989,
the Association did not have a formal government affairs program.
Marci served as a member of the Printing Sector Subcommittee of
the EPA's Common Sense Initiative from 1993 to 1996. As a member
of the Subcommittee, Ms. Kinter participated on the workgroups that
developed the Printer's Simplified Total Environmental Program (PrintSTEP),
as well as the New York City Education Project. Immediately following,
she was named as the primary industry representative for the PrintSTEP
implementation project.
From 1998 to 2000, she served on the National Advisory Council
for Environmental Policy and Technology's Standing Committee on
Sectors as an industry representative.
In 2001, Marci received the William D. Schaeffer Environmental
Award for significant advancement of environmental awareness in
the graphic arts industry.
Before joining SGIA International, Marci worked for The American
Waterways Operators, Inc., the national association for the barge
and towing industry.
She holds a bachelors degree in urban planning from the University
of Maryland, College Park, and a master's degree in public administration
from George Mason University.
