ASPT Member Biography

Bron WolffBron Wolff
Inducted into the Academy in 2002

Bron began his screen printing career in 1970, while at college at Ball State University. After graduating with a degree in art education, he taught in the Indiana public school system. Developing a unit on screen printing using hand-cut stencils, he later taught indirect emulsion for posters and text.

After working part-time with a screen printer, he opened his own business in Valparaiso, Indiana. White Graphics (Shelby, IN) then hired Bron, where he ran their cost engineering and production planning departments. When Avery Graphics acquired the company in 1987, he moved into production art and pre-press, eventually heading Avery's printing area and finishing departments. In 1990, he was hired as Division General Manager at Sun Process (Elk Grove, Village. IL). After two years, he moved to Modagrafics (Rolling Meadows, IL) as Production Manager.

In 1992, Bron became SGIA International's Technical Education Associate. In that capacity, he helped develop curriculum and teach workshops offered by the Screen Printing Technical Foundation. He also worked to help other teachers and art educators in the field who were teaching screen printing as part of their curriculums. Additional duties included reviewing instructional materials and technical articles, as well as providing consulting services to the industry at large.

He moved back to the Midwest in 1995 and accepted a position as Production Manager at Joliet Pattern (Joliet, IL), working with several manufacturers to develop new inks and emulsions for industry-wide use. At the end of 2001, Wolff accepted a position at Serigraph (West Bend, WI), where he now works to improve printing quality and efficiency across all divisions.

Bron Wolff began writing about the screen printing industry for Screen Graphics magazine in 1997 and became a contributing editorial writer for ScreenPrinting magazine in 1998–contributing over 20 articles, which have helped to establish standards to improve the printing process. He continues to teach SPTF's Four-Color Graphics seminar, and is a frequent presenter at SGIA's annual Conventions and Membrane Switch Symposiums.
