ASPT Student Screen Printing & Digital Imaging Awards Competition Sponsored by Industry Sponsors and SGIA
The ASPT is pleased to announce its third Student Screen Printing & Digital Imaging Awards competition in 2008. The competition is open to all secondary and post secondary schools holding a membership with either SGIA, FESPA (Federation of European Screen Printers Associations) or ASGA (Asia-Pacific Screen Printing & Graphic Imaging Association). SGIA offers an educational membership at a reduced annual fee of $25. For more information contact sgia@sgia.org or call 703.385.1335. The competition will be open to samples produced during the 2007-2008 school year, having a submission deadline of July 11, 2008. Two separate levels of the competition will be held: Secondary (High School and Vocational) and Post Secondary (Technical School, College or University). Entries submitted under each of these divisions will be judged and given awards within that division to promote a fair contest. Students may enter samples in any of the categories of the competition and can work as individuals or as a team on submitted work. Categories for textile substrates include single-color, multi-color: spot color, multicolor: index and simulated process and four-color process. Paper substrates can be submitted under single-color, multicolor and four-color process. Categories for plastic, glass, metal or wood substrates include single-color, multicolor and four-color process. Finally a category for original serigraphs on any substrate will also be offered. A new digital subgroup will be offered for each of the catagories for 2008. The competition offers students an opportunity to have samples of their finest work evaluated by ASPT experts, who can grant an Award of Excellence and Honorable Mention per category/division. A Best of Show award for each division will be chosen by the judges from among all the gold ribbon winners. Best of Show winners will receive an ASPT Student Achievement Award plaque and a monetary prize to both the student and to the school. Cash prizes sponsored by Industry. All submitted work will be judged and showcased at SGIA’s Golden Image Competition area at SGIA ‘08 annual exhibition in Atlanta, Georgia October 15-18th.
