SGIA Forms - Hazardous Materials Training for the Specialty Graphic Imaging Industry
Advance Order Deadline: August 31, 2006

September 24 & 25, 2006

Have you ever considered the fact that many screen printing and graphic imaging chemicals are, under the Department of Transportation’s hazardous materials shipping regulations, considered to be hazardous materials?  Are you getting concerned?

If the answer is yes, and you would like to continue shipping products in the future, hazardous materials transportation training may be required. Perhaps you may want to join us.

Registration Form (pdf 38K)

Who Should Attend?
The program is perfect for any employee directly involved in materials handling: shipping clerks, receiving clerks, manufacturers, suppliers, hazardous materials shippers, sales people and more…

What Is It?
This training session will provide you with training you need to satisfy requirements outlined by the US Department of Transportation in 49 CFR, Subpart H, as well as the requirements of the International Air Transport Association. You will learn proper marking, labeling, placarding, shipping paper and packaging requirements. This interactive training course will significantly improve your knowledge of hazardous materials regulations and help you prevent fines and shipping delays.

Why Is It Important?
It’s the law! The training regulations require initial training for new hazardous materials employees within 90 days of employment. Recurrent training is required at least every three years. Employers involved in the shipping, transportation or receiving of hazardous materials are required to train, test, certify, and develop and maintain records on the training of all employees involved in the handling or shipping of hazardous materials. Individuals must be trained to ensure the safety of the shipper, carrier personnel, the general public, and the environment. According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, human error is the probable cause of most transportation incidents and associated consequences involving the release of hazardous materials. Civil penalties can range up to $ 25,700 per day, and/or imprisonment for up to five years.

Where and When Is It Taking Place?
The seminar will take place at the Las Vegas Convention Center, Las Vegas, Nevada, on Sunday, September 24, 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm and Monday, September 25, 9:00 am - 4:00 pm. Lunch will be provided on Monday. The program will be presented by Nazdar, in cooperation with SGIA.
