Product of the Year

Product
of the Year competition compares digital imaging products that
are moving specialty imaging in a faster more accurate
direction with better and more reliable output for wide-format digital
graphics.
Only SGIA members, or exhibitors, can enter the outstanding products that benefited the industry in 2008. Each product will be judged based on its perceived value to the digital imaging community by a select group of experts. Products submitted must be new to the market for 2008.
Categories
The Product-of-the-Year Award will be presented in each of five categories:
• Software & Related Systems
Any computer, computer program, or peripheral device, specifically designed for graphic imaging applications (including, but not limited to: graphics programs; RIPs; RIP/server combinations; and other applications designed for digital imaging control; manipulation; network transmission/retrieval; and/or generation).
• Media & Consumables
Any consumable supply item used by an output device (including, but not limited to: inks; toners; dyes; pigment; thermal-reactive or photo-reactive (photographic) systems or other colorants, as well as paper; vinyl, thermal or photo-reactive material; or other non-textile printing substrate).
• Textile Products
Any consumable item specifically intended for digital imaging activities, either direct printing or transfer printing, on textile products. This could include textile media, finishing products, or other consumables specific to digital textile printing.
• Finishing
Any device, consumable supply item or system used for the finishing of graphics (including, but not limited to: specialized machinery; laminating systems; framing; hanging systems or other products made for the protection, presentation, or enhancement of graphic images.
• Output Devices
Entries in the “Output Device Category” may only be submitted by SGIA Supplier Member companies who manufacturer and/or distribute output devices. Entrants will be required to print and submit a test image created by the Association. The image is designed to make output devices run through their paces by printing a number of challenging images and test patterns. Entrants will receive a additional information to obtain the test image, as well as full information on shipping of the required print. Additional details for this category are available here.
