A New Day Approaches
No one can say for sure when we will begin to pull out of the economic downturn, but the first quarter of 2009 is shaping up to be a challenge for many in the community. The pundits I prefer to listen to have the economy beginning to improve by mid 2009. I hope they are right. But whatever the timetable, we need to stay positive and focused.
The pressure is on management as we enter the New Year. Successful managers will have a very solid business strategy — one that achieves the right balance of conservation and investment — as they pick the areas in which to focus their business interests. These managers will make the best decisions at critical times.
Times like these redefine the business landscape. New business practices will be put in play. As we come out of this downturn, it won’t be a return to the way things were; a new set of business practices will emerge. Successful businesses won’t be waiting for things to return to normal — instead, they will adjust to, and maximize — the changing environment.
In a stressed economy, change is everywhere. Flexible, eager and forward-thinking businesses will be the leaders as the economy rebounds.
Our imaging technologies, both digital and screen, are a huge help in responding to a changing environment. Both technologies will provide welcomed solutions for many print buyers. Creativity and cost-effective solutions will be highly valued as we work through the economic challenges. The flexibility of our imaging solutions will prove to be a competitive advantage as members of our community compete with other printing and advertising methods.
As we head into 2009, be strong, be focused and be positive.
