The SGIA Community Reaches Out in Support of New Orleans

Installing large format graphics along Canal Street supports New Orleans and promotes the SGIA community.

Canal Street is the main thoroughfare between the New Orleans Convention Center and the French Quarter. While the city has stepped up efforts to repair damage from Katrina’s winds, there are still several unused buildings with plywood covering damaged facades. To improve this situation, SGIA has adopted Canal Street and will be covering (or replacing) the plywood along this important avenue with colorful graphics illustrating the rich heritage and excitement of New Orleans.

This is a great opportunity to support the New Orleans recovery effort and promote the use of large format graphics in an urban environment. In addition to the SGIA member printers, suppliers and installation specialists who have volunteered to-date, the Professional Decal Application Association has also joined SGIA in this effort.

For complete details on this effort, visit the New Orleans Canal Street Initiative page. Here you will find photos of each site, the current list of volunteers and preliminary specifications for each installation. You will also find contact information if you would like to discuss participating in the effort.

On behalf of the city, the Association and myself, I want to thank all involved for their support.
