Going Sustainable with LEED Certification

The urgency to become more sustainable continues to spread within the specialty imaging community. SGIA spoke to Chris Bernat, Co-Founder of Vapor Apparel, about what it takes to become more sustainable. Last year, the company became a LEED certified business, which sets the framework for designing and constructing energy-efficient buildings.

Question: Why did you seek out LEED certification?
Answer: It’s a game changer. We knew it would be a major benefit in the marketplace. We also saw a unique opportunity to really differentiate ourselves as a blanks brand. A lot of blanks brands talk about sustainability, but very few act on it. It is one thing to talk about being green in your catalog, but having a world headquarters that is LEED certified actually demonstrates it.
