2006 SPTF Workshops Begin February 6Fairfax, Virginia — The 2006 slate of workshops from the Screen Printing Technical Foundation is available at SGIA.org for your planning needs. The highly-regarded workshops will kick off with "Screen Making: Basic to Professional" in February, and emphasize best practices and hands-on learning:
- "Screen Making: Basic to Professional" (Instructors include Denise Breard, SGIA, and Dawn Hohl, SPTF): February 6–10, June 5–9, August 7–11, November 13–17
- "Graphics Four-Color Process: Controlling the Variables" (Instructors: Bron Wolff, Serigraph Inc.; Mike Ruff, ReyHan PGF; Dawn Hohl, SPTF): February 28–March 3, May 16–19, July 11–14, October 17–20
- "Special Effects: Enhance Your Textile Print" <http://www.sgia.org/sptf/wrkshps/spltyink.cfm> (Instructor: Charlie Taublieb, Taublieb Consulting): March 22–24, August 28–30.
"Because SPTF is part of SGIA, students know we are unbiased and really are teaching the best, most efficient ways to print," said Dawn Hohl, SPTF Technical Training & Resource Manager.
"Learning these methods on your own can take years, and the mistakes can cost you money and customers," Hohl added, noting that shops with SPTF training will experience reduced set-up time and substrate waste as well as increased customer satisfaction.
Students say the hands-on, unbiased approach works well. "I was able to grasp each concept and add to the knowledge I already have. I will be able to save the company money and improve the efficiency of the company," said AJ Piper, Tapecon Inc. (Buffalo, New York), after a recent "Screen Making" workshop.
Learning from industry leaders such as Mike Ruff, Charlie Taublieb and Bron Wolff adds value and means that students leave with lessons they can apply in their operations, as Renee Stratmoen, Top Promotions (Middleton, Wisconsin) noted following a session of "Special Effects."
"We will take back info and ideas that expand and enhance the products we can offer our customers," she said.
The SPTF workshop schedule, agendas and course descriptions <http://www.sgia.org/sptf/wrkshps.cfm> are posted in the SPTF area of SGIA.org.
