Fairfax, Virginia -- Rules for shipping hazardous materials change on a yearly basis. Stay in-compliance and up-to-date on regulations with help from HazMat expert Erik Reed.
Reed, Nazdar's Regulatory Compliance Manager, leads SGIA's affordable Hazardous Materials Transportation Training program (October 22–23) -- held on-site at SGIA '07 (Orlando, Florida; October 24-27, 2007) before the action at the Expo exhibit hall starts. http://www.sgia.org/events/current_expo/sgia07/conference/hazmat.cfm
In addition to certifying specialty imagers in government-mandated training, Reed offers real-life scenarios imaging companies face when shipping, receiving, handling and distributing hazards, and ways to resolve issues.
"We'll review a lot of common situations and have the attendees go through the entire process for each example," Reed said. "Students leave with the knowledge and confidence to clearly communicate any hazards coming into or leaving their facilities."
During the course, Reed clears up industry misconceptions, such as packaging mistakes and assumptions that small amounts of hazardous material aren't regulated.
"Hazard material is regulated in any amount," he reaffirmed. "There might be different rules a company follows, but tiny amounts, even miniscule ones, are subject to regulations [from the U.S. Department of Transportation and International Air Transport Association]."
