Fairfax, Virginia -- According to the 2007 SGIA Wage & Salary Survey, the median US hourly production wage has increased 12.5 percent -- from $12 in 2005 to $13.50 this year.  http://www.sgia.org/pdf_server.cfm?pdf=/surveys_and_statistics/survey_reports/sgia_wagesummary0907.pdf

In Canada, says SGIA Business Information Associate Katy Lellelid, the median increased by $1.58 (CN), from $14.42 in 2005, to $16.

The survey ran online at SGIA.org's Surveys & Statistics July 2–30, 2007. More than 400 imagers participated, representing all sectors and sizes of specialty imaging companies, and nearly every region in the United States and Canada. (Quebec, Canada, was the lone exception.) http://www.sgia.org/surveys_and_statistics/

"The response base was roughly the same size as the previous Wage & Salary Survey," Lellelid said. "That helped us more accurately note changes. With the next survey we'll have three sets of results to compare, and we'll be able to better detect trends."

Questions covered company size, location, annual sales, payroll, specialty and wages paid in 2006 for 74 positions, Lellelid noted.

SGIA President/CEO Michael Robertson noted, "Data from Surveys & Statistics helps SGIA members gather the best, most timely data to discern industry growth trends, target new markets and engineer smarter business decisions."

The summary survey is online at SGIA.org and available to all interested parties; you can purchase the full survey report at the SGIA e-Store on November 1. SGIA e-mailed the full report to all participants, free of charge. http://www.sgia.org/pdf_server.cfm?pdf=/surveys_and_statistics/survey_reports/sgia_wagesummary0907.pdf
