Orlando, Florida — Yesterday evening, SGIA honored Rich Hoffman, CEO of The M&R Companies (Glen Ellyn, Illinois), with the 2007 Howard Parmele Award for his tireless efforts in bringing higher standards to screen printing.

“Rich has championed technological innovation, and was instrumental in the development of auto-loading systems for cut-piece goods and auto-unloading systems for garments, to name a couple of his contributions,” said SGIA’s Immediate Past Chairman Scott McLean, who presented the award to Hoffman at the Friday Night Dinner Party.

Hoffman co-founded The M&R Companies in 1985 as a repair and maintenance services shop for screen printing equipment. One year later, the company started manufacturing manual presses, and has grown to be one of the largest manufacturers of screen printing equipment in the world.

“The company was founded to provide technical support for a wide variety of screen printing equipment, and our winner maintains that commitment to this day,” McLean said, adding “his company’s training facility is thriving and generously provides equipment for the Screen Printing Technical Foundation Lab.”

The Howard Parmele Award is the specialty imaging community’s highest honor, recognizing the ongoing commitments of a professional who has advanced the industry’s products, services and overall image. A list of previous Parmele Award recipients can be found in SGIA’s annual membership directory under “Recipients of Major Awards.”
