Orlando, Florida — SGIA member Gordon Brown, Co-owner of New Vista Image (Golden, Colorado), today received the 2007 DPI Innovator Award. Brown, an early adopter of digital graphics, was honored for his continuous enthusiasm and participation in the digital imaging industry.
“Gordon demonstrated early on digital could provide profitable and effective results,” said Incoming SGIA Chairman Kent Yunker, who presented the award during the SGIA ’07 Keynote Luncheon.
Brown started his career in 1973 when he opened his own design and printing firm. He later managed one of the predominant producers of fleet graphics in the nation. Brown also helped in 1990 beta test the 3M Scotchprint 9510 Electrostatic Printer; and in 1998 the Scitex Vision Press Jet.
His current business, New Vista Image, is a fully digital graphics shop that is a leader in cultivating new markets and producing innovative applications, Yunker said.
“He has served as an enthusiastic representative for digital imaging through his industry work and participation in SGIA activities,” Yunker said, quoting one of Brown’s colleagues who had said, “Gordon continues to break new boundaries with his hunger to experiment.”
The DPI Innovator Award recognizes the creativity and ingenuity of specialty imagers who have moved forward the digital industry and community. Recipients are nominated by SGIA members, but nominees are not required to be SGIA members.
