Fairfax, Virginia — Most respondents to SGIA’s recent survey, 2007 Safety Initiatives, said they didn’t have injuries on the job and currently have safety programs in place. According to the respondents, these programs included the use of protective equipment (78.7 percent), safety rules (70.8 percent), safety training (58.8 percent), safety posters (56.2 percent) and regular safety meetings (46.4 percent). http://www.sgia.org/surveys_and_statistics/

“It’s great to see that so many shops have developed safety programs,” said SGIA’s Business Information Associate, Katy Lellelid.

The survey ran online from late August – September, 2007. Questions covered safety programs, injury causes and production impact. More than 260 imagers participated in the survey, and were primarily from the United States. Participants also represented Canada, Mexico, South Korea, India, Europe, Caribbean, Middle East and Asia. http://www.sgia.org/surveys_and_statistics/

“I hope that any company in the industry, with or without these programs, can use the survey results to make their workplace safer,” Lellelid said.
