Established in 1973 by the Board of Directors of the Specialty Graphic Imaging Association, the Academy of Screen and Digital Printing Technologies (ASDPT) recognizes individuals who have contributed to the technical growth and/or advancement of the screen
and digital printing industry.
Academy Mission Statement
The ASDPT is an international body of experts which honors qualified individuals through election to membership for their distinguished, long-term contributions to, and application and promotion of, screen and digital printing and associated imaging technologies for graphic, textile, industrial and electronic printing applications.
Academy members are active in providing technical education, consultation, adjudication of printing image quality, and promotion of the technical and commercial development of the industry.
All are welcome to submit nominations! The Academy seeks those that have a strong interest in the screen and digital printing technologies and have worked to further the use of the technology, either through speaking, writing, or working in the manufacturing setting. The Academy membership consists of suppliers, printers and educators -- all who have a strong background in these printing platforms.
Do you know of someone you would like to nominate for membership in The Academy? Do you have questions about who and what The Academy is? If you have the question, so do others. The following is provided to answer your questions!
- What is the purpose of the Academy?
The Academy’s purpose is to promote and encourage the development of screen and digital printing through technical papers and other means of fostering knowledge associated with imaging technologies for graphic, textile, industrial, and electronic printing applications.
Academy members regularly submit, review, recognize and recommend technical papers for publications under the auspices of the Academy. Members are also active in providing technical education, consultation, adjudication of printing image quality, and promotion of the technical and commercial development of the industry.
- Who can be nominated to The Academy?
Any individual associated with an PRINTING United Alliance member company, either domestic or international, that is in the screen and/or digital industry as a printer, supplier, or educator can be nominated for membership. From those nominated, three new members are inducted into The Academy. Inductees are selected by the current membership. All nominees are judged based on information provided in the Nomination Form.
- Who can provide a nomination?
Anyone can nominate a person for induction into The Academy. Nominations are due June 1. Any further questions? Feel free to contact Marci Kinter, Secretary of The Academy.
To recognize Academy members for their informational contributions to the industry, each year, one member is awarded with the Dave Swormstedt Award. This honor recognizes an individual for an exceptionally written article discussing any aspect of screen printing or graphic imaging.
