GSG Launches Industry Fundraiser for Bone Marrow Donor Program In Honor of Payton Granberry

In early 2018, Payton Granberry — daughter of Brandon Granberry, GSG VP of Op-erations, and Stephanie Granberry, GSG Credit Manager, and the granddaughter of GSG President Mark Granberry — was diagnosed with Severe Aplastic Anemia (SAA) at the age of 12. This is a disease where the body stops producing blood cells and instead destroys them, resulting in lower red blood cell counts, fewer platelets and a compromised immune system. Payton needed a bone marrow transplant.

With the help of Be The Match, Payton found a perfect donor. This organization helps patients find life-saving marrow donors and provides support throughout the transplant process. Additionally, it manages the largest and most diverse marrow registry in the world.

After many days in the hospital and more than 250 needle pokes, Payton started her bone marrow transplant. On August 16, 2018, she had her “re-birthday” and received stem cells from an unrelated donor. Since her transplant, she hasn’t been hospitalized or needed any blood products. This fall, she will return to junior high as a healthy and vibrant 8th grader! We are all inspired by Payton’s strength and positivity!

To honor Payton’s successful battle and raise funds for Be The Match, which was so instrumental in finding her donor, GSG ordered the creation of a custom color of Siser EasyWeed heat transfer vinyl called “Payton Pink.” Released as of September 1, all proceeds from the sales of Payton Pink will go directly to Be The Match to help others needing a bone marrow transplant.

In addition, during the Fort Worth Imprinted Sportswear Show October 3 - 5, booth 519, Payton Pink T-shirts will be sold for $5 each with proceeds benefiting Be The Match. T-shirts also will be sold at PRINTING United, October 23 - 25, 2019 in booth 3608 in Dallas.

To help others find their perfect match, you can donate or be added to the marrow donor registry. Fore more information, visit the website at bethematch.org, contact GSG at (800) 366-1776 or visit gogsg.com
