December 31, 2011 marked the end of the stay of enforcement for the testing and certification of children’s products, covered by the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA). To further complicate issues, on August 5, 2011, President Obama signed H.R. 2715 into law, to provide the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) with greater authority and discretion in enforcing the consumer product safety laws. However, even with the passage of H.R. 2715, there are key provisions that went into effect on January 1 of this year.
