The Occupational Health and Safety Act on Prince Edward Island is based on the Internal Responsibility System. The Internal Responsibility System places the responsibility for workplace health and safety on everyone in the workplace.  Employers are responsible for maintaining safe environments by providing adequate equipment and training about hazards and safe practices.
