Ontario Announces Mandatory Safety Awareness Training

The Ministry of Labour announced the institute of mandatory safety awareness training that becomes effective July 1, 2014. All workers and supervisors will be required to complete a basic occupational health and safety awareness training program. There are no exemptions to this one-time training program requirement. Once the training has been conducted, even if the employee changes employers, there is no need to retake the training. SGIA is working to develop materials to help employers comply with this program requirement.
