Paradigm Imaging Group Announces the New Backlight Option for the WideTek 25 Flatbed Scanner from Image Access

Paradigm Imaging Group is pleased to announce the new Backlight Option for the WideTek 25 Flatbed Scanner. The WideTEK 25 is a high resolution, color flatbed scanner for formats up to 25 inches by 18.5 inches. The CCD system is housed in a hermetically-sealed camera box, ensuring dust-free operation. Using a patented stitching process, the WideTEK 25 delivers a maximum resolution of 1200 dots-per-inch and can scan an A2 sized document in three seconds (at 300 dots-per-inch). The WideTEK 25 now comes with an optional backlight unit for digitizing film footage, X-rays and other transparent material. The backlight option is integrated in the scanner lid and can be easily installed by the user, enabling both normal and transparent source material to be scanned. The backlight unit enhances the functionality of the WideTEK 25 scanner. It can scan both reflective originals as well as transparent material in the same resolution of up to 1200 dots-per-inch optical and using 3D surface scanning techniques if desired. There are many film scanners available on the market for small image formats and even medium sized images, but in the large format range, film scanners are very rare and/or prohibitively expensive. Market Applications of the WideTEK 25 with Backlight Unit:
  • Scan X-rays, glass photo negatives, up to 635 x 470 millimeters (18.5 x 25 inches) in size, 35 millimeter microfilm aperture card conversion/archiving
  • Digitize cut-out originals and stencils and use the 3D surface scanning functionality for even more detail
Adding this option enables operators to scan medium format and large format films and glass negatives of up to 635 x 470 millimeters (18.5 x 25 inches) in less than six seconds at 600 dots-per-inch. Says Randy Geesman, president of Paradigm Imaging Group, “The backlight option greatly expands the capabilities of the WideTEK 25 scanner which makes it one of the most unique large format scanners available on the market."
