A previous version of this article was published in 2012. Looking at it from a new perspective today, things have certainly changed. The last version covered solvent printers exclusively. Though solvent was the dominant ink technology at that time, other products have moved into the space formerly occupied by your trusty solvent printer, particularly latex ink technologies. Additionally, as the economy has improved and more exotic technologies have become more affordable, many smaller shops have now purchased UV-curable printers as well.
