Sustainable Green Printing Attends 2019 Green Sports Alliance

The 7th annual Green Sports Alliance Summit was held in Philadelphia, PA this past June, very fittingly in the Lincoln Financial Field, home of the Philadelphia Eagles. Gary Jones and Heather Nortz were thrilled to represent the Sustainable Green Printing Partnership (SGP) within the world of sustainable sporting events. During the Summit, they manned an SGP booth and spoke with attendees, other vendors, and speakers about the prevalence of sustainable printing within sports as well as the value of the SGP Certification and Impact Tracker.

One goal was to communicate to people outside the printing industry about how vast print is. From jerseys and banners to food packaging and tickets, printed products cover sports facilities from the parking lot to the field.

Another goal was to promote the relevance and importance of SGP to printers, print buyers, and those who support the print industry in any other way. This was accomplished both by speaking with people one on one at the booth as well as through the Cleaner& Greener: Responsible Procurement panel Gary was a part of on day two. During this panel, Gary discussed responsible procurement of printed products and the importance of utilizing printers with a sustainable process and facility. Many attendees are parts of companies that strive to make a positive impact on the supply chain but never considered doing so by supporting sustainable printers. Others, with similar passions of being green, did their own printing in house and became interested in the certification as well.

Overall, the 2019 Green Sports Alliance Summit was a success for SGP. We can’t wait to go back in 2020!
