NFI Corp. and Design Mark Industries Pivot Manufacturing Production to Fight Against COVID-19

NFI Corp., the global leader in high-performing printed graphic solutions with a proven commitment to safety, in collaboration with Design Mark Industries, a leader in customer manufacturing of graphic overlays and labels and an engineering-based, user-interface solutions provider, has launched a new product category: Personal Protective Equipment and Safety Gear.

Disposable face shields for health care professionals is the first item available in this new category, with 40,000 pieces expected to be produced per week. These custom protective face shields are created from medical-grade glossy clear polyester and polycarbonate and feature an adjustable head strap. The one-piece design is meant to add an additional level of safety for health care professionals as well as patients. This product is currently shipping directly from the New Bedford, Mass., manufacturing facility.

The idea to produce personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety gear was implemented quickly by both companies — after the initial decision to launch this product line was determined, around March 30, prototyping and material acquisition was in place within three days, and the first 5,000 masks were produced on Friday, April 3 – within the same week. Both NFI Corp. and Design Mark were previously deemed essential due to their focus on medical and military-related manufacturing, and so had remained in operation.

Other prevention products already available include COVID-19 wall graphics and social distancing floor signage. All products are being sold directly to hospitals, nursing homes, and the government. Additional products are available for consumer purchase at amazon.com.

Safety has always been a priority for Renaud Megard, president and CEO of NFI Corp.  Most recently, NFI Corp. celebrated 1,000 days of safety in November 2019, marking almost three years since the last safety incident. Megard also emphasizes safety at home for all of his employees.

“We are very proud to announce the addition of these new products,” said Megard. “It is thanks to a great collaboration between NFI and Design Mark that we have been able to develop these vital safety devices in such a short time.

“This is such a difficult time for everyone.  With our already established focus on safety and desire to help, we looked at what we could offer and realized we could help contribute to alleviating the shortage of PPE for medical, emergency response, and public health workers. We are honored to be involved in this effort, and I am especially proud of our employees for embracing this idea fully and working tirelessly to achieve this remarkable production ramp-up.”
