Job Summary

Verifies, allocates, posts and summarizes details of financial transactions to subsidiary accounts in journals, general ledger, or computer files. Calculates employee wages, withholding, social security, and other taxes and prepares checks for payment of wages.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Verifies, allocates, and posts details of financial transactions to subsidiary accounts or computer files from documents such as sales slips, invoices, receipts, check stubs, and computer printouts.
  • Reconcile and balances account books monthly.
  • Summarizes financial data from ledgers or computer files and transfers to general ledger.
  • Compiles financial reports and perform statistical computations to show statistics such as cash receipts, expenditures, accounts payable and receivable, and profit and loss statements.
  • Prepares tax reports of withholding, Social Security, and other taxes.
  • Computes and sends monthly financial statements to customers.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This job has no supervisory responsibilities. Carries out conduct and leadership responsibilities in accordance with company policies, procedures, safety, and applicable laws.

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information to one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathmatical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standard situations.
