- Wired — Refers to signage that is hardwired usually via ethernet or possibly with a USB connection to a nearby player or network connection.
- Wireless — There are many sign controllers and players that communicate via wireless connection or by wireless router.
- Cellular — Connections to the device are enabled through an Internet connection via cellular broadband data services (cellular router).
- Internet — Every display needs an IP address, enabling access to the device directly via cable or using a wireless router.
