Equipment Sales Representative

Job Summary

Sells screen printing and/or graphic imaging equipment and accessory products for equipment manufacturer or distributor by performing the following duties personally.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Compiles lists of prospective customers for use as sales leads.
  • Travels throughout assigned territory to call on regular and prospective customers to solicit orders.
  • Demonstrates and makes presentations of company equipment and services to prospective clients emphasizes salable features.
  • Quotes prices and credit terms and prepares sales contracts for orders obtained.
  • Estimates date of delivery to customer, based on knowledge of own firm's production and delivery schedules.
  • Prepares reports of business transactions and keeps expense accounts.
  • Oversees installation of equipment, and trains employees in use of equipment.
  • Solves customer problems and complaints that are routine and refers more complex problems to company technical staff or management.
  • Enters new customer data and other sales data for current customers into computer database.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with purchasing contacts.
  • Investigates and resolves customer problems with service and delivery.
  • Reviews trade literature for new developments and products in the field.
  • Attends trade shows.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This job has no supervisory responsibilities. Carries out conduct and leadership responsibilities in accordance with company policies, procedures, safety, and applicable laws.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelorõs degree or two year Associate Degree with emphasis on sales, or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong skills in work planning, scheduling, and must have good judgment of color, design, and printing quality.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and employees.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations to printing jobs. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus. Independent travel is required.
