Job Summary

Sells screen printing and/or graphic imaging products for manufacturer, distributor, or printer to business and industrial establishments by performing the following duties personally.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Compiles lists of prospective customers for use as sales leads.
  • Travels throughout assigned territory to call on regular and prospective customers to solicit orders.
  • Makes presentations of company products and services.
  • Quotes prices and credit terms and prepares sales contracts for orders obtained.
  • Estimates date of delivery to customer, based on knowledge of own firm's production and delivery schedules.
  • Prepares reports of business transactions and keeps expense accounts.
  • Solves customer problems and complaints that are routine and refers more complex sales and technical problems to company management.
  • Reviews trade literature for new developments and products in the field.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This job has no supervisory responsibilities. Carries out conduct and leadership responsibilities in accordance with company policies, procedures, safety, and applicable laws.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's degree or two year Associate Degree with emphasis on sales, or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong skills in work planning, scheduling, and must have good judgment of color, design, and printing quality.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and employees.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations to printing jobs. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. Employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, toxic chemicals, and heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Frequent independent travel is required.
