Screen Reclaiming Technician

Job Summary

Responsible for removing ink residue and solvents from screens, reclaiming screens and screen frames for future use by performing the following duties personally.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Receive screens from pressroom and removes ink residue, and stores screens for rerun, if appropriate.
  • Removes tape from screens to be reclaimed.
  • Processes designated screens with reclaiming solution to remove stencil emulsion or film. Monitors chemicals for correct concentration and mixture.
  • Applies haze remover to remove ghosting, if needed.
  • Degreases new or reclaimed screens.
  • Removes damaged screen mesh from frame, cleans and deburrs frame, and delivers frame to screen making department.
  • Sands or otherwise cleans adhesive residue from static frames.
  • Utilize rubber gloves, apron, face mask, protective glasses, and other safety equipment as required for personal safety.
  • Responsible for properly disposing of hazardous waste.
  • Maintains cleanliness of work area and equipment.

This job has no supervisory responsibilities. Carries out conduct and leadership responsibilities in accordance with company policies, procedures, safety, and applicable laws.

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information to one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standard situations.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to humid conditions, fumes, toxic chemicals, and heat. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Some independent travel may be required.
