Garment decorators gathered on Wednesday, October 11 during the SGIA Expo to hear Tim Williams of YR Store speak about the changing landscape of apparel printing and selling strategies. Williams is an accidental pioneer in customized garment decoration, who started out designing software with the user experience in mind. Now, under the YR Store Brand, Williams has partnered with TopShop, Ralph Lauren, Macy’s and more to create unique buyer experiences for customized garments. Williams offered attendees inspiration about how to grow their business and strategies to compete in this new retail reality.
In addition to Williams’ keynote, THREADX in 2018 — SGIA's newest conference offering for the dynamic apparel printing community — was announced by Greg Kitson of Mind’s Eye Graphics who moderated a panel of Brett Bowden of Printed Threads, Chris Bernat of Vapor Apparel and Pierre Jamnicky of Blue Moon Promotional Inc.
THREADX is set to offer printers an opportunity to identify the new reality of consumers and brands, their print buying needs and strategic shifts in their buying habits. The conference will emphasize the concept of cooperating with your competition, or "co-opetition."
"THREADX will be a summit where people in the industry can come together as a group and move our industry forward," said Bowden, a long-standing member of SGIA's Garment Decorating Committee. "This has been a bit of a passion project for me, to bring in some industries that will inspire us to do our jobs better."
THREADX will offer a program of forward-thinking, inspired and motivated apparel decoration executives with creative vision for their businesses. With a focus on e-commerce, THREADX 2018 will satisfy apparel printer's appetite for usable inspiration with speakers including Johnny Earle (Johnny Cupcakes), riCardo Crespo (Th13teen) and Tim Williams (YR Store). Here’s where the next generation of leaders is coming together. THREADX will take place February 25–28, 2018, in Palm Springs, California.
"One way to enter a market is as an expert, and ThreadX gives you a platform for becoming an expert in our field," said Bernat.
In an effort to give Garment Decorators access to e-commerce experts and resources, THREADX powered by SGIA has partnered with eTail West to give THREADX attendees a discounted 1-day pass to eTail on February 28th. Transportation will be provided from THREADX and attendees will have full access to the show floor and educational sessions at eTail West. Register now at THREADX18.com!
