During SGIA’s final Printed Electronics Symposium at the 2017 SGIA Expo, SGIA’s incoming chairman of the board, Edward Cook Jr. of ECI Screen Print Inc. announced a new conference dedicated to industrial and printed electronics printing — FP3, which stands for “Functional Printing, Process and Products.”
The new event will take place June 4–6, outside of Chicago. Many functional printers manufacture a product and use print as part of the process. FP3 will offer manufacturers who fabricate tangible objects an opportunity to learn how to use industrial printing to make it more effective.
“FP3 is constructed on three pillars, with industry thought leaders in mind: Robust, peer-reviewed educational sessions, a small trade show with sponsored booths and tabletops from printers and suppliers, and finally, focused networking opportunities and social events.” Cook said.
In addition to the exciting announcement, the final SGIA Printed Electronics Symposium also offered attendees the chance to discuss new and innovative applications directly with suppliers, industry experts and peers from around the world. The highly-focused conference addressed the rapidly growing market of e-textiles and delivered invaluable insight about applications focused on specific e-textiles markets.
“SGIA’s Printed Electronics Committee chose e-textiles because of the way they're impacting the development of the printed electronics industry,” said Marshall. “They’re new and novel, and the business opportunities they present are growing exponentially.”
“I enjoyed the high energy presentations and real-world example of technology,” said Harry Alpern of Kimoto Tech Inc. “[The Symposium] gave a nice overview of the market and potential next steps in the development process.”
