Back in 1980, Screen Print ’80 (the predecessor of the SGIA Expo) instituted the Golden Squeegee Competition, which featured 27 categories for screen printing excellence. As SGIA evolved, so did the competition. This year, the Golden Image Competition (renamed in 1993) included more than 50 categories — each with up to four subcategories — over a variety of technology platforms. Changes in names and technology aside, the goal has remained the same: recognizing excellence in printing. Now, as in the 1980s, winners are considered to be among the best printers in the world. The Golden Image Competition showcases expertise, ingenuity and excellence in executing a print.
