In Canada, employers are required to establish Joint Health and Safety Committees in their workplaces. A joint health and safety committee (JHSC) is a forum for bringing the internal responsibility system into practice. The committee consists of labour and management representatives who meet on a regular basis to deal with health and safety issues.
The Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) provides health and safety information on hazardous products used, handled, or stored in Canadian workplaces. In 2015, a new version of the WHMIS rule went into effect.
