Fresh Artists’ Founder and President, Barbara Chandler Allen, is a non-profit administrator with forty-nine year’s experience in visioning and managing arts-based non-profit organizations. Founded in 2008 with her son, Roger, Fresh Artists empowers vulnerable k-12 youngsters to create substantive change in the world through their art making.
Ms. Allen has extensive experience in museum collections management, art handling, and organizing art exhibitions having worked as Registrar of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Harvard’s Peabody Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology and in the community outreach exhibitions at the Cleveland Museum of Art. Serving on several boards such as the Women’s Resource Center, Woodmere Art Museum and the Village of Arts and Humanities in North Philadelphia, she has shared her development, design and entrepreneurial expertise with many local community and arts organizations serving the inner core of our city such as the School District of Philadelphia, The Pennsylvania Horticultural Society, and the Charter High School for Architecture + Design. She is a TEDx presenter and winner of the 2010 Purpose Prize.
