Kevin Karstedt began his career in the “digital” world of packaging in the mid 1980s, when he founded KLK Graphics in Buffalo, New York. KLK utilized cutting edge digital design tools that predated desktop publishing and focused on providing services to the package design community. In 1990 Karstedt moved on to Winston-Salem, North Carolina, to help RJR Packaging helping develop a first-of-its-kind, design-to-print digital solution for gravure printed packaging. In 1993 he took a position with Scitex America to help build their packaging efforts with state-of-the-art tools and workflows.
In 1996, he formed Karstedt Associates, Ltd., a consulting firm serving the packaging supply chain from creation to delivery. In 2010 he joined forces with digital printing pioneer Jeff Wettersten to form Karstedt Partners, LLC, offering deeper consulting services to the packaging marketplace. His firms have worked with consumer product companies from the Fortune 1000 and 100 lists, package printers and converters (large and small and from all market segments), and suppliers of products and services targeted at the packaging marketplace. Their client list includes Philip Morris, Schering Plough Pharmaceuticals, Bayer Products, Sentry Manufacturing, Paperboard Packaging Council, Cello-Pack, Xpdex, St. John’s Packaging, Accurate Box, The Standard Group, Hewlett-Packard, Epson, 3M, Fujifilm, Xeikon, Xerox, X-Rite, Sun Chemical, Muller Martini, and many others. The company has published a number of industry reports and is considered one of the foremost thought leaders regarding technology innovations for packaging and packaging graphics.
