The PRINTING United Alliance Glossary serves as an excellent industry terminology resource. It is the language by which we all communicate. Without it, universal understanding would be impossible.

To keep our constituents well informed about changes to the increasingly complex industry terminology, PRINTING United Alliance has developed this glossary of terms. Definitions are for general reference only. Usage may vary between companies, individuals, or national and country customs.   • Diisobutyl ketone (DIBK)
    A relatively slow evaporating ketone used as a retarding solvent.
  • Ketone
    A class of strong volatile organic solvents such as acetone and methyl ethyl ketone (MEK).
  • Methy ethyl ketone (MEK)
    Widely used in the manufacture of lacquer-type screen printing inks and industrial lacquers, also used as a thinner for some screen printing inks of lacquer base.
  • Methyl isobutyl ketone
    A solvent used in the manufacture of lacquer compounds and some resins such as vinyl.
