Small Giants: Companies That Choose to Be Great Instead of Big

As a specialty imager, being great at what you do is important. But so is managing your business so that you are profitable.

Using examples of companies such as Anchor Steam microbrewery and rocker Ani DeFranco (as well as 12 others), Bo Burlingham discusses how some companies have navigated their business to be more profitable without necessarily getting bigger.

Mr. Burlingham joined Inc. magazine in January 1983 as a senior editor and became executive editor six months later. In 1990, he resigned so that he could do more writing and became editor-at-large. One of his novels has been called "the first management classic of the new millennium."
